He Liked it so He Put a Ring on it..... {How I Met My Mr}

October 29, 2011.

The Future Mr & I already knew that we were getting married.  He had asked my Dad. I knew he had the ring.  We had the Date Set.  The Church Booked.  I had designed my invitation.  All that was missing was the ring.....

That Saturday morning I had an appointment at David's Bridal with my good friend.  The first dress I tried on was "the one".  I tried on a few others just to be sure, but once I had that dress on, I knew it was it!

After I ordered my dress, we went to a few craft stores, and then headed back home.  When I got home, much to my delight, my boyfriend was mowing and cleaning up the front yard of the house I was renting with another girl.  He finished up the yard and then asked what I wanted to do that night.  Since it was a warm day, I suggested that we go for a walk around Olive Branch Park.  He left to go home and shower and change clothes before our spur of the moment date.

I knew it was going to be about 1 1/2 hours before he came back to get home, so I skyped with my sister, painted my fingers nails and enjoyed a quiet few hours at home.

{Meanwhile, during his shower, he just decided that our walk was the perfect time to propose.  So he texted a mutual photographer friend and asked her to meet us at the park}

He picked me up and we headed off.  He told me that there used to be this fort in the woods that He played on as a kid, so we meandered through the woods for a while trying to find it.  We just meandered around and took a few pictures together....

The whole time we were walking, someone was continually texting him.  He said that it was his mom telling us about all the truck-or-treat cars at their church....and of course I believed him!

After a while of walking around, we decided to head back to the truck.  We walked past the Pier, and he said that he wanted to take a picture out on the pier.  This was slightly odd behavior for him, because he's not really a "let's take a picture together" guy.  But again, I didn't think anything of it and happily agreed.

We Snuck in a quick smooch, and then I fumbled around with my phone trying to get my camera on.  All of the sudden, he grabbed my phone, got down on one knee....

And said, "Baby, will you be my wife.  Will be you be my Mrs. Norton?"
We assume I said yes, but neither of us actually remembers if I ever answered him or not!

After he proposed, the Photographer popped out and we did a few more pictures!

I of course posted in on Facebook, and made all the calls I needed to make, and then he took me to Carrabba's for dinner!  My parents were flying in that night to see my sister & I, so they got to enjoy the after glow of the engagement!

Getting engaged is SUCH a sweet time in a girl's life.  It's a day that we dream about as little girls!  How did YOUR Mr. Propose to you?
