<break><break>As you can see, there are only 5 items that are the same between a Northern and Southern Thanksgiving menu. The vegetables may all be similar, but the South likes to casserole everything. Granted, the menu can change from family to family, but this is my family's menus- the north vs. the south.</break></break></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<break><break></break></break> </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<break><break>I am not a huge fan of "southern" thanksgiving. Casseroles just aren't really my thing. My Mr. enjoyed our "northern" thanksgiving, but he prefers Has Casseroles. The only reason we will be having Mashed Potatoes at our "southern" thanksgiving is because I am bringing them. Thanksgiving isn't Thanksgiving to me with our some light & fluffy Mashed potatoes. </break></break></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<break><break></break></break> </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<break><break>I had never had Pecan Pie (pronounced Pa-con if you are a southerner, and PEE-CAN if you are a northerner) until I had moved down here. Now this is ONE thing that the South does right on Thanksgiving. </break></break></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<break><break></break></break> </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<break><break>This Thanksgiving my WHOLE immediate family was together for the first time since 2003 (the best I can figure). One of my sisters moved to Florida in 2004, so I figure that last thanksgiving we had all together was in 2003. Now, 3 weddings and 2 little ones later, we grew from a family of 5 to a family of 10. </break></break></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<break><break></break></break> </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<break><break>It was Sawyer's first Thanksgiving, and He really enjoyed the little bits of food that we was given! I am pretty sure that his favorite was the Homemade Candy Cane Ice cream that my Dad gave him! </break></break></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<break><break></break></break> </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<break><break>My "Norton" side is waiting until Saturday for their Thanksgiving. My in-laws were gracious enough to hold off on Thanksgiving dinner so that I could spend as much time with my family as possible. </break></break></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<break><break></break></break> </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<break><break>The biggest feat for my family is yet to come later this afternoon. Family pictures! Before this year my family was spread across 3 different states. My Parents were up in NY, me and my eldest sister were here in MS, and my middle sister is in Florida. Needless to say, it has been difficult to get us all together in the SAME place long enough to get a family picture done. That last picture we had done was at my wedding, which doesn't really count since I was the only one in a fluffy white dress. In fact, I think the only family pictures that we have gotten over the past 10 years is at each wedding! </break></break></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<break><break></break></break> </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<break><break></break></break> </div>

<break>
So tomorrow I'm having my first "surgery". </break></break><br />
<break><break></break></break><br />
<break><break>My Dentist has decided that I have a little too much wisdom and that my wisdom teeth have got to go. (ok--that was corn straight off the ear, deal with it.) So tomorrow, I go under the knife. Only one of my wisdom teeth has come through, and I've been having a lot of jaw pain on that side. I guess another one of them has turned itself around backwards. Fun times.</break></break><br />
<break><break></break></break><br />
<break><break>I've begun to freak myself out with the anesthesia. I'm super sensitive to any kind of drug to begin with. The thought of them putting a drug in my arm that will knock me out in 5-10 seconds flat REALLY just unnerves me. </break></break><br />
<break><break></break></break><br />
<break><break>I was joking with my MR that I plan on keeping myself drugged up so that I just sleep through all the pain. He didn't think it was very funny. In fact, He told me that he was going to be in control of the pain meds. Such a spoil sport! </break></break><br />
<break><break></break></break><br />
<break><break>Tonight I'm going to start prepping my food so that my MR doesn't have a lot of work to do tomorrow. Friday & Saturday I'll be fending for myself. I'm going to boil some chicken for chicken soup, make some Jello, find some somewhat healthy popsicles, and juice some fruits and veggies! I might even be a little naughty and make some vanilla custard. I've decided I'm going to attempt to make it with almond milk, so it will be gluten and dairy free...just not sugar free! We'll see how it turns out.</break></break><br />
<break><break></break></break><br />
<break><break>So until next time, I'll hopefully be sleeping, and getting my fix of Jello.</break></break><br />

<break>today.</break><br />
<break></break><br />
<break>I'm pretty sure that 25 needs to be one of those "milestone" birthdays...I mean, half of a half century of life is pretty huge, don't ya think?</break><br />
<break></break><br />
<break>I mean, really. It's just this ONE DAY that you are a quarter century! The day after your birthday you are a quarter century PLUS 1 day, and so on and so forth!</break><br />
<break></break><br />
<break>So My Love, on your birthday today, I wish you an Old Irish Blessing</break><br />

<break></break><br />
<break>You are seriously my favorite person ever, and I can't wait to spend the next half century +++ With you!</break><br />
<break></break><br />
<break>I love you babe, A Whole Awful Lot!</break>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-664824990310096185.post-67140244892670742462014-06-25T14:06:00.001-05:002014-06-25T14:06:18.042-05:00It's been a while ... <break>
<break>
</break></break>It's been a while my lovelies! My girlfriend is starting a blog, and she inspired me to get my butt in gear and actually post something....<br />
<br />
Life Lately,<br />
<br />
I've settled in to my banking life again. Most days I love it. Other days I miss the freedom I had working for myself. I feel like I have LESS free time than I did when I was running the scrap yard! I'm having a hard time not only finding the TIME to blog, but of having the desire to. I just don't feel like I have much to say lately. <br />
<br />
The MR. is turning 25 next tuesday. We are having a cookout for him with friend this Saturday, and then a family dinner on his actually birthday. His birthday is always SUPER special to me, because it's the reason that we met! I'm pretty sure I'm the best birthday present He has ever gotten! And I'm the gift that keep on giving, right? <br />
<br />
I'm getting my wisdom teeth out on the 10th of July. I am NOT excited about that. I'm a baby when it comes to pain. So I have a feeling I'll stay pretty doped up on some Pain Pills to get me through!<br />
<br />
The MR & I have discovered a new hobby that we BOTH love .... CAMPING! We've been twice now! The first time we went to a state park in Tennessee, and the 2nd time we went to Spring River in Arkansaw and spent the afternoon floating down the river with a group of friends. We will be going back to spring river (just the two of us) over the holiday weekend coming up! Our schedules don't really allow us to go on whole week vacations, so we just take little weekend vacations to get a break from life. Plus, camping is fairly cheap!<br />
<br />
I've decided to start hopping over to starbucks on my lunch break to make use of their Wi-Fi so that I can start blogging again, because let's just get real hear for a moment. I leave work at 7:15, and get home around 5:15-5:30, ain't nobody got time for blogging after working all day, coming home and doing housework. Well, atleast this girl doesn't!<br />
<br />
Anyhow--that's life lately for me? How about you? <br />

<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0);">In a few days our family is going to come together and celebrate a man who lived His life walking with God. </span></div>

<span style="background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0);">It is so easy to just mourn our loss – and the loss is great – but we MUST remember to celebrate his Life, and his life was a life worth celebrating.</span></div>
<span style="background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0);"><div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0);">I didn’t know him very long. In fact, the first time I met him was just a few months before the Mr. and I got married, and it was less than 6 months from when we started dating. <span style="background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0);"><div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0);">I know that My Mr. is going to miss him dearly. At first the loss seems so great and so overwhelming, but soon the pain of our loss will diminish. But on life’s more momentous moments, especially when we have our first baby, that tender ache will reappear. </span></div>
<span style="background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0);"><div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0);">For the last few months of his life, Papaw stayed with my in-laws. My Mother-in-law took care of him, and in the last few weeks very rarely left his side. I know that it was hard for her, and I know that it exhausted her – more mentally & emotionally than physically – but she never once wavered. It was SUCH a testimony to both My Mr. and I of how we are suppose to take care of our parents in their final days. (This is not to say that elderly care facilities do not have their place, because they do!) </span></div>
<span style="background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0);"><div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0);">Papaw lived a full life, just shy of 89 years. He worked hard, raised 2 wonderful daughters, was faithful and took care of His wife through her dying days, but most importantly He walked with Jesus. </span></div>
<span style="background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0);"><div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0);">We can rest in the promise the Papaw is in a better place, that he is worshiping at the feet of his Savior, that he is reunited with his Bride, and that he is no longer in pain.</span></div>

<span style="background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0);">When the generations above us start to pass, we do mourn our loss, but we also know that they lived a full life. But death, of any kind, always reminds me that this life is fleeting and our days are finite. It always makes me think about how I can live my life to the fullest, and I always come back to Loving God more than everything, and choosing Jesus before everything else. When you do that, everything else just falls into place. No one has ever said “Man, I really regret choosing Jesus”.</span></div>

<span style="background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0);">I realized last weekend that common decency is a thing of the past.</span></div>
<span style="background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0);"><span style="background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0);"><div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0);">My car died at the beginning of last week. It threw a rod even thought it had plently of oil. It wasn't worth fixing, so my husband decided to walk the track hoe over it and affectively crush it. Well, the guy who works for us did that, but you get the point.</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0);">Needless to say, we had to go find a car. </span></div>
<span style="background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0);"><div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0);">My husband tints every vehicle that he owns. He has a thing about not wanting people peering into our cars. So, He sent me to the local tint shop to get it done. This tint shop does a great job on their tint, but the only draw back is that they are a first come first serve basis. They open <a href="x-apple-data-detectors://0" x-apple-data-detectors-result="0" x-apple-data-detectors-type="calendar-event" x-apple-data-detectors="true">at 10 on Saturday</a>, so I got there about <a href="x-apple-data-detectors://1" x-apple-data-detectors-result="1" x-apple-data-detectors-type="calendar-event" x-apple-data-detectors="true">9:10</a>, about <a href="x-apple-data-detectors://2" x-apple-data-detectors-result="2" x-apple-data-detectors-type="calendar-event" x-apple-data-detectors="true">9:20</a> a charger pulls in, and at about <a href="x-apple-data-detectors://3" x-apple-data-detectors-result="3" x-apple-data-detectors-type="calendar-event" x-apple-data-detectors="true">9:30</a> a civic pulls in. </span></div>
<span style="background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0);"><div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0);">When the owner’s pulled in <a href="x-apple-data-detectors://4" x-apple-data-detectors-result="4" x-apple-data-detectors-type="calendar-event" x-apple-data-detectors="true">at 9:45</a>, the guy driving the civic gets out of his car, so of course I get out of my car. He asked me if I was the first one here, and I told him yes, and that the charger was just a few minutes behind me. </span></div>
<span style="background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0);"><div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">

<span style="background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0);"><div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0);">When the owner’s of the tint shop started walking up to the building, the civic driver DASHED to the door to get ahead of me and the charger. Not cool dude. Not cool.</span></div>
<span style="background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0);"><div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0);">It annoyed me at first, but they work on two cars at once so it didn’t affect me personally.</span></div>

<span style="background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0);">When it took almost 4 hours for my car and the civic to get finished, I realized that this guy totally screwed over the Charger. He knew exactly what he was doing. </span></div>
<span style="background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0);"><div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0);">The guy that brought in the charger had to wait the 4 hours for our vehicles to get done, PLUS an additional 3-4 hours for his car to get done. All because the Civic dude decided to be a butt. Thankfully the man was nice and laid back. Me? I wouldn’t have been as cool about it.</span></div>
<span style="background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0);"><div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0);">Now—I realize that we aren’t in kindergarten any more. There is no, “Teacher, Teacher, Tommy budged in front of me”. That just doesn’t cut it in the grown up world.</span></div>
<span style="background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0);"><div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0);">But come on folks. Let’s have a little common decency and politeness. </span></div>

<break>
I wish I could say that I'm back on a regular posting schedule, but I can't say that. </break></break><br />
<break><break></break></break><br />
<break><break>However, I CAN finally now talk about all these "changes" that have been going on as of late.</break></break><br />
<break><break></break></break><br />
<break><break><strong>CHANGE 1</strong></break></break><br />
<break><break></break></break><br />
<break><break>The biggest one has been the fact that the Mr. and I both have new jobs.</break></break><br />
<br />
<break><break>We've been managing a scrap yard together for 1 1/2 years. It was definitely a growing experience for us both. It took a while for me to fully realize that us closing doesn't mean that we failed. In fact, we were doing <em>really</em> well for where we started from, which was pretty much with nothing. </break></break><br />
<break><break></break></break><br />
<break><break>In a fluke of chance, we received some information that made me begin to look at the present, and where we needed to be in 2 years. And let me tell you what -- the numbers just weren't working out. So after a lot of figuring, talking & sleepless night, we (and by we, I mean me, my husband, and my in-laws who own it) decided that the best solution would be to close it.</break></break><br />
<break><break></break></break><br />
<break><break>I was fortunate enough to get my job back at the bank I had worked at previously, and My Mr. went back to work for his Dad at their other business.</break></break><br />
<break><break></break></break><br />
<break><break><strong>CHANGE 2</strong></break></break><br />
<break><break><strong></strong></break></break><br />
<break><break>This really goes with Change 1, but I feel like it deserves its own category. </break></break><br />
<break><break></break></break><br />
<break><break>It has been a transition NOT working together anymore. Honestly, it has been good for us. </break></break><br />
<break><break></break></break><br />
<break><break>When you are with your husband 24/7, literally, it's easy to take that for granted and quit spending Quality Time together. </break></break><br />
<break><break></break></break><br />
<break><break>It is really nice to be able to come home at night and be actually able to <em>talk</em> about our days.</break></break><br />
<break><break></break></break><br />
<break><break><strong>CHANGE 3</strong></break></break><br />
<break><break><strong></strong></break></break><br />
<break><break>This is the newest change. I went to the Doctor a few weeks ago and was officially diagnosed with Hashimoto's Thyroiditis, Adrenal Fatigue, and some other Hormonal Issues. </break></break><br />
<break><break></break></break><br />
<break><break>He's putting me on some prescriptions to help control the Hashi's, and the Adrenal Fatigue, but He has also recommended that I go on the GAPS Diet, which is overwhelming at it's best.</break></break><br />
<break><break></break></break><br />
<break><break>All in all, we are still transitioning, and now due to the lovely Hashi's and GAPS, I will have even less time to blog. </break></break><br />
<break><break></break></break><br />
<break><break>So, bear with me, hang around and hopefully I will still be able to pop in from now and again.</break></break><br />
<break><break></break></break><br />
<break><break>Until my love's, I'm learning that Life changes, and you can either fight those changes or allow yourself to be fluid and not fight them. I struggle with changes, I like to stick with what I know and what is comfortable. </break></break><br />
<break><break></break></break><br />
<break><break>And now, I am off to go boil some bones to make broth and render some beef fat into lard. </break></break>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-664824990310096185.post-42230409486444482552014-02-22T11:52:00.001-06:002014-02-22T11:52:35.937-06:00I'm a person that.....<b>I'm a person that ... </b><br />
<br />
...Really, really misses blogging.<br />
<br />
...Hates the uncertainty of not knowing exactly what I am doing.<br />
<br />
...Likes to be REALLY good at what I'm doing.<br />
<br />
...If I'm either/both not sure of what I'm doing or not good at what I'm doing, I feel inept.<br />
<br />
...does NOT like to feel inept or inadequate.<br />
<br />
<b>I'm a person that ... </b><br />
<br />
...If I know that a friend is having a bad day, I will send them flowers to cheer them up.<br />
<b> </b><br />
...appreciates it when my MR. sends me flowers when he knows I've been having a rough week.<br />
<br />
...when I'm dead on my feet tired, will cook my husband an amazing meal like smothered chicken in a white <br /> wine reduction sauce (recipe coming soon!) because I know that He needs a little extra lovin' that day.<br />
<br />
...Is perfectly ok with spending all morning snuggled in the bed watching netflix <br />
<br />
<b>I'm a person that ...</b><br />
<br />
<b>...</b>will choose the extra 15 minutes of sleep, every time, even if that means that I have to put some baking<br />
soda in my hair to covered up some of the grease because now I don't have enough time to shower. (don't<br />
judge)<br />
<br />
<b>...</b>thinks a perfectly acceptable breakfast is a handful of almonds and a piece of cheese as I'm running out the door late for work...<b> </b><br />
<br />
...falls asleep on the couch at 8:00 on a Friday night and doesn't remember going to bed at 10, and I'm ok<br />
with that<br />
<br />
...Falls in love with my MR. even more when He brings me a towel that He heated up in the drier for when I<br />
get out of the shower<br />
<br />
<br />
<b>I'm a person that ...</b><br />
<br />
<b>...</b>is giving up my iphone for a regular flip phone (post to come later)<br />
<b> </b><br />
<b>... </b>will get up on early on a Saturday morning to make my MR. some homemade pancakes and then go back<br />
to bed<br />
<br />
... feels SO loved when my MR. gets up in the middle of the night to get me a glass of water<br />
<br />
....Is so thankful for the life long friends. The friends that you may not talk to for months, but when you do<br />
you pick up where you left off like nothing happened. Those are the friends that "get you" like no one <br />
else can. <br />
<br />
...Does NOT like to be considered a "knucklehead" by the 1st lady. I may be 27, but I don't dance on<br />
barstools, and I've been cooking since I was 10, so I know how to use a knife, Thank you.<br />
<br />
<b>I'm a person that...</b><br />
<br />
<b>Is okay with who I am. </b><br />
<i><br /></i>
<i>(side bar.... I'm really hoping to get back into a blogging routine soon. I just need to get the rest of my life in a routine first! It will alllll make sense as soon as I am free to blog about it!)</i><br />

<break></break><br />
<break>You may have noticed my absence over the past couple of weeks! There have been a lot of changes in the N household. It's been a little Cray-Cray. I'm not at liberty to get into any of the details right now, but in a few weeks I should be able to. For now all I can say is, God is good - all the time, <strike>even when</strike> especially when we don't understand at the time.</break><br />
<break></break><br />
<break>I don't know what is going to happen to my little space here. My internet time has been cut to a fraction of what it used to be. Once I am able to get used to my new schedule and form a new routine, I hope to be able to fit blogging back into my life somewhere!</break><br />
<break></break><br />
<break><b>A short update on life.</b></break><br />
<break></break><br />
<break>My <a href="http://thenortons331.blogspot.com/2014/02/losing-control.html" target="_blank">Bell's Palsy</a> is basically cured. This Morning I put in my first pair of contacts in 17 days! I don't mind wearing glasses every so often, but boy I despise wearing them every day. I'm fairly certain that the chiropractic adjustments that I had helped the most. I was also taking some pretty heavy doses of my multi vitamin, and some extra vitamin b to help the nerve regenerate. I did end up taking the steroids that were prescribed, mainly because the MR. wanted me to, but if it happened again, I'm not sure that I would. My face broke out something awful last week. I have these little bumps all around my mouth. I googled it (of course!) and I found that this could be an adverse reaction to coming <i>off </i>steroids, even though I was only on them for 6 days. </break><br />

<break></break><br />
<break>I hit black ice on my way into work last Wednesday. It was terrifying. I've experienced driving in snow and slippery conditions before when I lived up north, but I have never experienced black ice. I watched the truck ahead of me swerve off the road into the ditch, so I knew to be careful and not hit my breaks. As soon as that thought crossed my mind, I also had started to spin. </break><br />
<break></break><br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<break><img alt="" aria-busy="false" aria-describedby="fbPhotosSnowliftCaption" class="spotlight" height="300" src="https://scontent-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-prn2/t1/1897684_10203276156568600_1058197534_n.jpg" width="400" /></break></div>
<div align="left" style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<break>Driving to work this morning I realized just how fortunate I am that I slid into that particular place. If I had been on another road or in numerous other places on the road I was on, I could have easily flipped my car. Thankfully my MR. & the Man that works for us came to my rescue and where able to pull my car out. I'm fine (other than some back twinges that the chiropractor will straighten out today), and my car is fine. In fact, my car drives better than it did before it made friends with the ditch! </break></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<break>I did learn that there are some people that are not sympathetic to a girl in heels and a skirt trying to climb out of a ditch. Then there are other people that have compassion. While trying to climb out of the ditch, I had one truck that stopped to see of the other guy was ok, and then just drove right past me -- jerk. As I was standing on the side of the road fuming about that, a sweet lady pulled over and offered to let me sit in her car where it was warm until help arrived. I don't think we ever did exchange names, but we had great conversation for the next 30 minutes, and I am so thankful for her, because otherwise I would have froze standing in the freezing rain & wind. So, to the Manager that works at Walmart, I am so, so grateful for you! </break></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<break>My Nephew, Korben, came home from the hospital last Monday after his 3 week stay in the NICU. He has healed wonderfully, and everything seems to be ok! My other nephew Sawyer is 1 month old today! They get big way to quick, don't they?</break></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<break></break> <break> </break><br />
<break>I found out shortly after we got married that the pill form of birth control<b> is the devil</b>, and went off it ASAP. I track my cycles using the FAM method, which means I take my temperature every morning and chart them, along with being aware of other signs of fertility. At this point the Mr & I are trying to avoid getting pregnant. I noticed that the end of my cycle, after you ovulate is only about 10 days, when it should be 14. I asked my Dr about it and He told me that it isn't something to be concerned about, it just mean that I will have to take progesterone in order to get pregnant, and He explained all the reasoning (which I won't bore you with) as to why. Well, it sounds pretty serious to me if there is something going on with my body that it doesn't produce enough progesterone to be able to conceive, right? I have an appointment on Wednesday with a holistic doctor, and I hope that he will have some more answers for me! I am just thankful that I track my cycles because otherwise I would have no idea that this was going on until I wasn't able to get pregnant!</break><br />
<br />
<break>Well folks, that about all of the life updates that I have! I'm not sure when the next time will be that I'll get to sign on to my little space on cyber world, but I'm hoping it will be sooner rather than later! </break></div>

<break>
I didn't make any New Years Resolutions this year. I didn't even get around to writing my post on my word for the year, which is....</break></break><br />
<break><break></break></break><br />
<break><break></break></break><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjTu7E0Ups37ztpI1xrJWh0fYbAmeaUwGZ2hduZ4PyTjTfzMzU7MB4WuZUKn0N3iCy2FYDW_30MYjh0K6zyxUdHm3FfQSO3_LIahmHA8TqmPTlH4qg0POcw9FUleC2hFStNCfw8G7UN-yg/s1600/organization.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjTu7E0Ups37ztpI1xrJWh0fYbAmeaUwGZ2hduZ4PyTjTfzMzU7MB4WuZUKn0N3iCy2FYDW_30MYjh0K6zyxUdHm3FfQSO3_LIahmHA8TqmPTlH4qg0POcw9FUleC2hFStNCfw8G7UN-yg/s1600/organization.jpg" height="273" width="640" /></a></div>
<break><break></break></break><br />
<break><break>I am one of he most disorganized people when it comes to certain areas of my life. Ok. Maybe most of them. But the crazy thing is, that I crave organization. </break></break><br />
<break><break></break></break><br />
<break><break>Let's just be honest here....I'm just too lazy most of the times to do it. </break></break><br />
<break><break></break></break><br />
<break><break>My Organization Goals for the month:</break></break><br />
<break><break></break></break><br />
<break><break><strong>1. Get back to meal planning.</strong> </break></break><br />
<break><break>I got away from this in November when I went to NY, and just never got back into it through the Holidays. Well, it's beyond time to start. If I don't meal plan it is inevitable that our eating habits go down the drain. </break></break><br />
<break><break></break></break><br />
<break><break><strong>2. Organize my pantry & freezer, and start an "inventory" list of what I have.</strong></break></break><br />
<break><break>My Pantry looks like a tornado hit it. It's ridiculous. And I have no idea what is hidden in the back of my freezer. I came across an inventory spreadsheet that I want to start using so that when it's time for meal planning I can easily look and see what's in my pantry and what meals I have in the freezer that I can use. This will save me time <em>and</em> money.</break></break><br />
<break><break></break></break><br />
<break><break><strong>3. Get on a schedule: A Daily Schedule AND a Cleaning Schedule</strong></break></break><br />
<break><break>I desperately need to get in some kind of routine schedule. I spend too many days of no routine, which inevitably makes me always run late, forget to do thing, and push other things that need to get done to the back burner. It drives the Mr. Crazy. </break></break><br />
<break><break></break></break><br />
<break><break><strong>4. Make use of my day planner and start making lists</strong></break></break><br />
<break><break>I can't even tell you how many times the Mr. asks me to do something, and I have every intention of doing it, and then I get distracted and forget. My Memory is horrible when it comes to things like that. I can remember something that happened 20 year ago like it just happened yesterday, but when it comes to remembering things I need to get done I need to write it on my hand with a permanent marker to remember! I find that I get more done and waste less time if I have a list of things that I want to accomplish by the days end! </break></break><br />
<break><break></break></break><br />
<break><break><strong>5. Plan my Garden</strong></break></break><br />
<break><break>This is my most exciting goal. It's about that time of year to start thinking about my garden this year. We are going to build some raised beds, and our neighbor is going to help us make some good soil! I just need to sit down and plan what I want to grow, how much of it I want to grow, and the approximate space each plant is going to need so that we know how big and how many raised beds I need. I'm going to attempt to start from seeds this year to save some money! </break></break><br />
<break><break></break></break><br />
<break><break></break></break>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-664824990310096185.post-18227520394130649632014-02-03T10:16:00.002-06:002014-02-03T10:16:17.607-06:00Losing ControlFriday Morning. The scariest thing of my LIFE happened. <br />
<br />
<b><span style="font-size: large;"><i>Half of my face stopped working.</i></span></b><br />
<br />
It started off like a typical morning. I had left my make-up at work, so I was sitting at my desk. I always do the mascara on my right eye, and then do my left eye. Well...My Left Eye wouldn't blink. It would close partially, but I really had to work at it. <br />
<br />
I called the Mr. into the office just to make sure that I wasn't imagining thing, and by the time He got there, (in a matter of minutes) I couldn't even "scrunch" up that part of my face.<br />
<br />
I am not one that runs to the Doctor until I am seriously sick. The last time I went, the Mr. MADE me go, and it's a good thing because I almost had pneumonia. I decided that I might need to at least call the Doctor to see what was going on, or to see what kind of doctor I needed to go to. <br />
<br />
The Nurse that answered the phone said that it sounded like Bell's Palsy, but that I needed to head to the E.R. immediately in case it was a stroke. <br />
<br />
Now I was REALLY scared. <br />
<br />
We closed down the scrap yard and headed out.<br />
<br />
Thankfully the E.R. that we went to was SLOW, and so we were able to get right in. They took my blood, hooked me up to some machines, and did a cat scan because I have been having a lot of headaches lately.<br />
<br />
After several hours the Doctor came back and said that I had Bell's Palsy. <br />
<br />
Bell's Palsy is a virus that affects the nerve in your neck that control the function in your face. It's not permanent, but there really isn't a whole lot that they can do for it. He prescribed me an anti-viral (who has EVER heard of an anti-viral???) and a steroid.<br />
<br />
I Hemmed and Hawed about taking the steroid. I had read a lot of articles saying that the steroid wouldn't really do anything and I know that steroids are really hard on your body. I really didn't want to take them, but the Mr. really thought that I should. So, I'm taking them. <br />
<br />
I'm also taking extra doses of my multi-vitamin, <a href="http://shop.enivausa.com/487786/en-us/product.aspx?id=27033" target="_blank">Vibe</a>, which in my opinion is one of the best multi-vitamin you could take. I'm taking <a href="http://shop.enivausa.com/487786/en-us/product.aspx?id=9001" target="_blank">Vitamin B</a> to help support nerve function several times a day. I am taking <a href="http://shop.enivausa.com/487786/en-us/product.aspx?id=13505" target="_blank">Efacor, </a>An Omega-3 supplement, to help reduce the inflammation, and I am taking<a href="http://shop.enivausa.com/487786/en-us/product.aspx?id=8214" target="_blank"> Cell-Ver</a>, to help my body fight the infecton. I was also taking some <a href="http://shop.enivausa.com/487786/en-us/product.aspx?id=12005" target="_blank">probiotics</a>, to help build up the "good bacteria" that the Antiviral is likely killing of. But I can't find where I put the bottle on Saturday morning, so until I can find it, I can't take it!<br />
<i>(<a href="http://shop.enivausa.com/487786/en-us/" target="_blank">Eniva </a>is not paying me to take any of these supplements. I have used this company for years, and truly believe that they are some of the best products out there!) </i>I am also using some Peppermint Oil around were the nerve is on my neck to help reduce the inflammation as well.<br />
<br />
I have cut out any food that may be causing inflammation as well. Sugars, Flours, processed foods, etc. I am trying to eat as much fresh foods as possible, and have been drinking a ton of water.<br />
<br />
I have a chiropractic appointment this afternoon. I figure that if its a nerve problem, then chiropractors work with the spine and nerves every day, so hopefully they can help too.<br />
<br />
This virus is not fun. I wouldn't wish it on anyone. Think about it. The whole left side of my face doesn't work. <br />

Yup. It really just deflates a girl's self esteem. I can't wear contacts because they will dry my eyes out further. The only reason I put mascara on today was to take these photos, otherwise it's not worth it because my eye waters so much that it runs right off. <br />
<br />
I can't brush my teeth without toothpaste dribbling out of my mouth. <br />
<br />
I have to drink from the left side of my mouth because I don't have enough control over my lips for the water not to drool out if I drink normally. Drinking out of a straw? Not really gonna happen. <br />
<br />
Eating is challenging because if I'm not careful food will fall out of my mouth.<br />
<br />
The Muscles in the left side of my face ache, all the time.<br />
<br />
I know that this should correct itself. I know that I have a <i>mild</i> case. But in the back of my mind, there is a 15-25 percent chance that my face will stay like this, and that <i>terrifies</i> me. <br />
<br />
So, we may laugh about it, and joke about it, the Mr. & I might die laughing because when I laugh my face looks pretty darn funny, and I know that there are way worse things that could happen, but it's my face. It's my smile. I joke with the Mr. and ask him if my face had looked like this when we met if he would have asked me out. <i>(He of course is a saint, and says yes.) </i> <i></i><br />
<br />
It probably makes me vain, but I do not feel the least bit pretty. I know, I know. Beauty shines out from the inside, and attitude makes all the difference in the world, but knowing that doesn't really help when you can't smile.<br />
<br />
Other than taking my vitamins and medicine, this whole thing is really out of my control. There is nothing that I can do to make it better.<br />
<br />
But, even though there are so many negative things that I could focus on, there is so much to be thankful for.<br />
<br />
I'm thankful that God has this under control.<br />I'm thankful for a husband that thinks I'm beautiful even if half of my face is jacked up.<br />I'm thankful for good insurance.<br />
I'm thankful for my parents and grandparents that advised me on the extra vitamins that I need to take.<br />I'm thankful that I have been taught to think for myself and not just blindly believe what the Doctor's say.<br />
I'm thankful that half of my face still works.<br />
<br />
And I will NEVER take smiling, blinking, and winking for granted again. <br />
<br />

<br />
<a href="http://thenortons331.blogspot.com/2014/01/freezer-meals-for-new-moms-white-pizza.html" target="_blank">Last week </a>I started a Mini Series on making freezer meals for New Moms. <br />
<br />
<br />
When my sister-in-law got pregnant with her second, I told her that I would make her one week's worth of freezer meals. She plans on nursing this baby, so I needed to make sure that the meals I made would be safe for a newborn's belly (not taking into account gluten & dairy). When I started googling freezer meals for nursing moms, I couldn't actually find anything that recommended good recipes. So I came up with my own list.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://thenortons331.blogspot.com/2014/01/freezer-meals-for-new-moms-white-pizza.html" target="_blank">White Pizza</a><br />
<break><break><strong>Chicken Potpie</strong></break></break><br />
<break><break>White Lasagna</break></break><br />
<break><break>Chicken Fajitas (light on the Onions)</break></break><br />
<break><break>Meatloaf</break></break><br />
<break><break>Poppy Seed chicken</break></break><br />
<break><break>Baked Mac n Cheese</break></break><br />
<div align="center">
<break><break><strong><u><span style="font-size: large;">Chicken Pot Pie</span></u></strong></break></break></div>
<break><break></break></break><br />
<break><break>First, you need to start off with a pie crust. If you want to save time (and lack flavor), you can buy one. I don't recommend it. There is nothing better than a homemade pie crust.</break></break><br />
<break><break></break></break><br />
<break><break>There is homemade pie crust. And then there is homemade pie crust made with coconut oil. </break></break><br />
<break><break></break></break><br />
<break><break>I've used the same pie crust recipe for <em>years. </em>Like, since I made my first pie. </break></break><br />
<break><break></break></break><br />
<break><break>Let me tell you what. This Coconut oil Pie crust blows my recipe out of the water. Here's the thing. Coconut oil is different than lard. It turns to liquid at a lower temperature than lard does. So after you make the dough you have to refrigerate it for an hour or so before you roll it out. </break></break><br />
<break><break></break></break><br />
<break><break>Also, if you are going to freeze the pot pie, let the chicken mixture cool before you put the crust on the top. If you are baking it right away, you'll put the crust on immediately. Just make your slits before you put the crust over your pie pan.</break></break><br />
<br />

<break><break>3.) Using a fork, mix in the water 1-2 Tbsp at a time. The water needs to be VERY cold. <em>(Often times, I will make a glass of icewater and get the water from that.) </em>Add just enough water for the dough to almost come together in a ball. </break></break></div>

I ended up making 2 pies out of this, but I also didn't measure everything exactly. Remember, I'm just a dump until it looks good kind of girl. If you are making this for a family larger that 2-3, you might want to bake it in a 2 qt baking dish instead of a deep dish pie pan.</div>

<div align="left">
To get the crust a lovely golden brown...Mix an egg with 2 Tbls of water and brush the mixture over the crust. (you won't use all of the egg mix) It will give your crust a wonderful golden brown finish.</div>

If you are freezing, let the mix cool completely before adding the crust. Also, do not add the egg mixture to the top pie crust. Wrap the Dish in plastic wrap, and then wrap it with aluminum foil. The better you wrap it, the less chance it has to be freezer burnt. Make sure to label it & leave good instructions for the new mom for baking! I usually will just write it directly on the Aluminum Foil. </div>

I would recommend for her to let it thaw, and then bake it for 60 minutes. It can be baked while it is frozen, but it will take a lot longer, and I think the crust will get over baked. </div>

1. I got my hair cut last night. I fairly finicky about who I let touch my hair, and I was trying out a new girl (who is phenomenal by the way!) . I know that it's "just hair", and it will grow back... but IT'S MY HAIR, and it take a LOOOOONG time to grow back. I even got some highlights, which is the first time I have EVER done that. I tried coloring my hair in 2009, with disastrous results, and swore I would never play with the color of my hair again. But, my MR. happens to LOVE highlights... so I gave in this once! I was SO tempted to cut my hair all off, and I was still undecided when I sat in Emily's chair. I showed her the 2 pictures (1 long & 1 short) that I was going towards, and explained that I was all set to cut it until my Mr (who always says, "do whatever you want with your hair") pulled the "<em>Please</em> don't cut your hair" line the other night when he was playing with it. She told me something along the lines of, "If I had someone that loved me and asked me to not cut my hair, I probably wouldn't cut it either" ... And when the decision was made, I realized that I had too many doubts about cutting it to cut it all off ! So I kept my locks.</div>

4. We FINALLY got a Jason's Deli! Whoop Whoop! I was introduced to Jason's Deli in 2007 when I lived in Virginia. It was almost 2 years after I moved to Mississippi that I found the Jason's Deli in Memphis. I got my Mr. hooked on it shortly after we got married, and a few times a year we would drive up to Memphis, hit a movie and have an early or late dinner at Jason's Deli. My BFF text me a few weeks ago and told me that we were getting one here! The Mr. took me to it last night after my hair appointment. Their Salad bar is like a Salad bar on crack. That's what I get every time I go! </div>

5. I've finally decided on my 2014 word. I'm excited about it. The Mr. is excited about it. You'll be able to find out about it next week! </div>

<break>
<br />
<break>
My Husband's Grandfather gave us money for our wedding to buy a good set of Pots & Pans. I went with <a href="http://www.amazon.com/Maxam-KT17-9-Element-Surgical-Stainless-Steel-Waterless/dp/B00077BHPS/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1389729724&sr=8-1&keywords=waterless+cookware" target="_blank">Maxam KT17 17-Piece 9-Element Surgical-Stainless-Steel Waterless Cookware Set</a>, by recommendation of my Grandpa. He didn't necessarily recommend that particular set, but he recommended pans that had the 9 layers of different metal.<span style="font-size: x-small;"> (</span><break><break><span style="font-size: x-small;">We don't do Teflon Non Stick pans in my family)</span> </break></break> I don't know if you know it or not, but my grandpa knows everything. <em>(And my grandma is the best cook too, don't even try to argue)</em><br />
<em></em><br />
</break></break><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgMz37OZMf7C4IWKmo3S6Y5hiEDhW8jZ0m68V3imXIA6QqKebXb1bdo9Cg0jDCqpR5SAhzHE_1ja-1MchKborB9G3QLSaJcSFo7WgnRiGkDz_8XHMFliahLlmL0DRsmTC8BFJqACqNMBUA/s1600/Scorched+Pan.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgMz37OZMf7C4IWKmo3S6Y5hiEDhW8jZ0m68V3imXIA6QqKebXb1bdo9Cg0jDCqpR5SAhzHE_1ja-1MchKborB9G3QLSaJcSFo7WgnRiGkDz_8XHMFliahLlmL0DRsmTC8BFJqACqNMBUA/s1600/Scorched+Pan.jpg" height="444" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br />
<em></em><br />
<strong>Scenario 1:</strong><br />
<br />
Do you know what it's like to SCORCH spaghetti sauce on the bottom of a stainless steel pot. It's awful. <br />
<br />
I let the pan soak for a while and tried to scrub it with no luck.<br />
<br />
Then somehow, in the back of my head, I remembered hearing that vinegar will making cleaning a scorched pan a breeze.<br />
<br />
If I remember correctly, I barely had to scrub the pan.<br />
<br />
<strong>Scenario 2:</strong> <br />
<br />
I don't know what we did to this pan, but there was some residual residue on the bottom of it. It didn't feel "gunky" when we can our hand across it, but you could tell it wasn't clean. And in poor blogger fashion, I of course don't have a picture of it. <br />
<br />
Then of course I remembered ..... VINEGAR!!!!!<br />
<br />
Genius, I tell ya!<br />
<br />
<strong>Here's how it works:</strong><br />
<strong></strong><br />
<strong>1.</strong> Pour enough white vinegar in your pan to cover the bottom<br />
<br />
2. Add in an inch or two of water<br />
<br />
3. Bring to a boil, and let it boil for 5-10 minutes or so<br />
<br />
4. Turn off heat and let set for a few minutes, but don't let the pan completely cool<br />
<br />
5. Dump out the vinegar water mix, and use the green side of the sponge and some soap to gently scrub the pan. Everything should easily come off! If I remember correctly, the scortched spaghetti sauce literally just peeled off the bottom of the pan.<br />
<br />
If you pan is really bad, you may have to do this twice.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
I've heard baking soda works as well. I'll have to try that next time and report back!<br />
<br />

<br />
<break><break></break></break><br />
<break><break></break></break><br />
<break><break>I think that Freezer meals are one of the best gifts that you can give a new mom. For the first week or two there are going to be swarms of people bring them meals. And you know that if there is out of town family there will be several weeks at the beginning when someone is staying with them to cover the cooking. But what happens after the first month when the visitors and meals cease? FREEZER MEALS. </break></break><br />
<break><break></break></break><br />
<break><break>When My sister-in-law was due with my <a href="http://thenortons331.blogspot.com/2012/11/worldmeet-bryson.html" target="_blank">1st Nephew</a>, I told her that for her shower gift I would make her some freezer meals. I didn't think twice about the fact that the food the Mom eats if she's nursing can make baby's tummy gassy. Major Aunt Fail.</break></break><br />
<break><break></break></break><br />
<break><break>Well, she's pregnant with their 2nd, and it's time for me to start thinking freezer meals again. But this time I'm going to be smarter about it! Baby B had a terrible time with gas, and so I'm taking as many precautions as I can with this round of freezer meals for Baby C.</break></break><br />
<break><break></break></break><br />
<break><break>Do you know how hard it is to come up with meals that freeze well that don't include foods that could potentially cause babies gas? IMPOSSIBLE. Nothing tomato based. No Beans. No Leafy Greens. Onions to a small minimum. Sparse use of Garlic. Nothing too spicy. I didn't even get into the dairy or gluten aspect of it! </break></break><br />
<break><break></break></break><br />
<break><break>I have come up with a list of 7 Recipes that I am going to share with you over the coming weeks.</break></break><br />
<break><break></break></break><br />

<break><break></break></break><br />
<break><break>So, I don't know about you, but I LOVE going to a hibachi grill. I usually get sushi, but their fried rice & yum yum sauce are to die for!</break></break><br />
<break><break></break></break><br />
<break><break>I made fried rice with yum yum sauce well over a year ago and it was a huge hit. The recipe got pushed to the back of my recipe book and was promptly forgotten about.</break></break><br />
<break><break></break></break><br />
<break><break>Last week, out of the blue, I just started craving fried rice! I may or may not have cooked fried rice for dinner TWICE that week. It was that good.</break></break><br />
<break><break></break></break><br />
<break><break>Here's the thing with fried rice. The best fried rice requires just a tad bit of planning ahead, because you really need to cook the rice the night before. I didn't do that either night, but I remember from making it before that it helps with the consistency of the rice. Don't forget to check out my <a href="http://thenortons331.blogspot.com/2014/01/tasty-tuesday-perfect-rice.html" target="_blank">"perfect rice" tip</a>! We did find out that this works out best if you are using Jasmine rice!</break></break><br />
<break><break></break></break><br />
<break><break>Another tip before I get on with the recipes. While you are cooking the rice the night before, go ahead and mix together the yum yum sauce. The flavor gets better as it sits over night!</break></break><br />
<break><break></break></break><br />
<break><break>Oh...just one more! Sesame Oil is NOT OPTIONAL! It adds something to it that you just can't replicate or do without, so just trust me! So buck it up and buy a bottle of it. It's a stable oil so it will last you a really long time! I get mine at the ethnic store in Memphis where it is way cheaper than at Kroger!</break></break><br />

It has taken me ALMOST all morning to figure this all out...but as you can see I've made some changes to my blog! Let me tell you what. Blog design is a pain. Kudos to you lovely ladies out there that do this professionally cause it was enough to drive me CrAzY! <br />
<br />
I learned a little bit about CSS today, all I can say is thank goodness for Google, Copy & Paste.<br />
<br />
I know that the colors don't exactly match up yet, but I just don't have it in my to completely redo my side bar today.<br />
<br />
I noticed on my phone that my side bar is down at the bottom, but I figure that's because I changed the width of my blog. So if anyone out there doesn't have a wide screen computer monitor, please let me know if the side bar is on the bottom of my blog on your computer!<br />
<br />
Happy Thursday!<br />
<br />
<br />
XoXo, <br />

<br />
<br />
So I am a HUGE Rice lover. I don't eat it very often, but when I do, my Stomach does a little happy dance. <br />
<br />
A little while ago I made the MR. Red beans & rice, which is one of his favorite meals, and I came across a no fail way to make perfect rice, every time! <br />
<br />
<em>It's so easy.</em><br />
<br />
Seriously, you'll be asking yourself, why hasn't anyone told me this before now! <br />
<br />
I used Jasmine rice, so I'm not sure how this will work for brown rice, since it seems like brown rice takes a little longer to cook!<br />

All you do is....<br />
<br />
1. Bring a pan of water to a boil. I'll usually season my water with salt, pepper, garlic, and whatever other seasonings I'm in the mood for, or that will compliment the main course. I also had a small pad of butter.<br />
<br />
2. After water comes to a boil, add in the rice. Stir CONTSTANTLY (while boiling) for 3 minutes.<br />
<br />
3. Turn off the Heat, put on a cover, and leave on the burner.<br />
<br />
4. DON'T TOUCH for 15-20 minutes.<br />
<br />
5. Remove the lid, fluff with a Fork!<br />
<break><break>Voila, Perfect Rice!</break></break><br />
<break><br />
<br />
<break><em> </em><br />
<em>**update: I tried this out on brown rice and it worked out well! Just increase the amount of time that you boil & stir the rice (8 minutes or so) and let it set for a little longer! We also found that this works best with Jasmine rice! If you are using regular white rice I would recommend decreasing the amount of time that you let it boil (2 minutes) to keep it from getting too gummy)</em></break></break><break><break></break></break><br />

<break><break></break></break><br />
<break><break></break></break><br />
<break><break>1. It's Friday??? Today doesn't really feel like Friday, it feels more like a Tuesday! This whole getting a day off in the middle of the week really messes with my internal week schedule! This morning I woke up and realized I hadn't turned in the Mr's time so that He can get paid...(It's due by Tuesday-Wednesday, woops!) </break></break><br />
<break><break></break></break><br />
<break><break>2. I'm freezing. I realize that we aren't in the single digits or the sub zero temps like the northern states are, but it's FREEZING here. Until you have experienced 21 degree weather with high humidity, then don't say I don't know what cold is. I grew up in the North, I went to bible college in Northern Wisconsin where it would get to -60 with wind chill in the winter, I know cold. But this southern cold it brutal! It gets into your bones and you can't get warm. That, and my 1000 sq foot office is heated off 2 little space heaters. When we came in the morning my office was a chilly 47 degrees, and in the past 2 1/2 hours it's made it up to 56 degrees. </break></break><br />

<br />
<br />
<break><break>3. My Father in Law is a saint. Like seriously. His office is about 25 miles north of my office. He supposed to be meeting My Mr. with a Jet Heater so that my toes don't fall off. </break></break><break><break>My MR. is also a Saint. Yesterday I dropped the pendant of my necklace that he gave me for my birthday down the drain. And He took my drain apart last night to get it out for me. I promptly washed it in Alcohol! </break></break><br />

<break><break>4. It's really no secret that the Mr & I have already started stocking up on baby gear. No, we aren't pregnant. I started buying baby stuff this past spring. Anything to do with baby and pregnancy is EXPENSIVE! I decided that if I kept an eye out for gently used Baby Items for cheap then I could save us TONS of money, and have the time to find the things that I really liked without feeling like I had to settle for something I didn't really like just because it was cheap or end up having to pay full price. </break></break><br />
<break><break></break></break><br />
<break><break>With that being said. I saw this on a local resale FB group... </break></break><br />
<break><break></break></break><br />

<br />
The Lady was selling it for $35. I contacted her to see if it was still available, and while I was waiting on her to respond, I decided to try and find out how much one was new. It took a little searching because she hadn't listed the brand, and I didn't know exactly what it was called. Finally, I found the exact one on Amazon, for $38 shipped.<br />
<br />
So, I offered her $25. I felt like it was a fair offer since I could get it for $38 brand new. I could tell by the tone of her message that she was a little irritated by my offer. She told me that she paid over $60 for it brand new and her son had only used it a few times, (Her son looked to be 12-16 months) and she had other people offering her the full $35.. You can't really blame her for trying to get $35 out of it, if people are silly enough to pay the $35, then more power to her for getting that much.<br />
<br />
However, here's the Deal-o Yo,, It doesn't matter if you paid $60 for it new over a year ago, if the going rate is $38, don't get offended when I offer you $25 for a USED product that I will have to go pick up! It would cost me more in gas & time to go get it that it would to buy it new! <br />
<br />
A Buyer's Tip: if you, the buyer, are looking to buy used items for whatever reason, whether it be on Craig's list, classifieds, or local FB resale pages, make sure that you do your research to find out what the item costs brand new, and then figure out how much your time & gas to go pick it up is going to cost you! I'm all about getting used items, but if someone is asking just $10 less for a used item than what I can get it brand new, then it's not even worth my gas to get it used!<br />
<br />
5. I've been keeping a secret from most people.... I stopped using deodorant & Shampoo about a month ago. <br />
<br />
Let's start with the Shampoo. I've done the "no poo" thing before, and gave up after about a month. My hair looked dull and lifeless. But now it seems that any shampoo that I try makes my hair greasy, and I've tried a bunch of it. So I'm back to trying out baking soda & vinegar. I'm still in the adjustment phase, so I can't go a day without washing my hair or I get pretty greasy, but I'm hoping the end is in sight and that this will all be worth it!.<br />
<br />
Deodorant...I have a post planned for this soon. I'm waiting to perfect my recipe before I share it with you. I've tried out buying natural deodorants from a few different places, but each one made my armpits break out. The last one I tried made my pits breakout so bad that they peeled. Not fun. <br />
<br />
Apparently the Ph in baking soda, which is a common ingredient in natural deodorant is too much for my armpits to handle, and they revolt. <br />
<br />
The recipe I originally came up with was 1 part Baking soda to 1 part Arrow Root Powder, but I found that it was still too much baking soda, and I had put in some tea tree oil, which I now regret because it makes me smell awful.<br />
<br />
I switched over to a spray that used 91% rubbing alcohol and Lemon/Lime essential oils. I never noticed myself stinking, but at the end of the day I could smell some not pleasant scents if I was just trying to smell my pits. <br />
<br />
So last night, I tried out my recipe again, making a few adjustments to it! Hopefully this will work, and I'll be able to share my recipe with you!<br />

<break>
In 2014, my goal for this little blog is for it to take on more of a structured direction. I've decided to make a loose weekly plan of what my posts are going to look like. This will give me more structure in what I write about, but it will also give you, my readers, an idea of what is coming next instead of these random posts here and there!! This structure might change as the year progresses and I figure out what works and what doesn't work or if I just get tired of it!.</break></break><br />

<break><break><strong><span style="color: black;"><u>M&M Mondays</u> |</span></strong> This is for all the little and the big things that I want to remember! This year when I went to do my year review, I realized that there were so many, many things that I never ended up blogging about, and it made me really sad! So Mondays are now dedicated to documenting the bigs & littles of the previous week! </break></break><br />

<break><break><strong><u>Tasty Tuesdays</u> |</strong> If you know me at all, then you know that I LOVE to cook & bake. It's something that comes really naturally to me. Tasty Tuesdays will be my day to share recipes. I'm not really great at following recipes to a T. I am more of a dash of this and a little of that kind of girl, and sometimes that makes it hard for me to share recipes! I have learned a few tips & tricks along the way that I think other people might find useful in the kitchen, and if I discover a new food that I just LOVE then I'll share that too! So basically this day will cover anything that happens in the kitchen! Maybe I should be calling it, "Everything Including the Kitchen Sink" Tuesdays! </break></break><br />
